Awning Fabric Installation
The elbow arms on your retractable awning are spring loaded which keep tension on the fabric cover. In order to slide the old fabric cover off and install the new fabric cover on, the tension must be taken off the fabric cover. This can be done is two ways. First, the awning can be full projected out and the back roller bar rotated until the fabric is completely unwound to its point of attachment. Second, the front bar can be tied off on each end with rope to the back mounting bar in order to allow the fabric to be unrolled off the back roller bar without the arms projecting. Once the tension is off the fabric and the fabric is completely rolled off the back roller bar, proceed through the following steps:
1. Remove the end caps off each end of the front bar.
2. Slide the old fabric simultaneously out of the grooves in the front bar and back roller tube.
3. Slide the front valance out of the groove on the front bar.
4. Insert hem (tag to back) of the new fabric cover into the back roller tube groove and other hem into the top groove of the front bar.
5. Slide the new fabric simultaneously into the groove on each bar until it covers the back roller and front bar.
6. Center the fabric on the front bar.
7. Center the fabric onto the back roller tube.
8. Roll the fabric onto the back roller tube by rotating the gear in retracted (up) direction.
9. Slide the valance into the bottom groove on the front roller bar and center, same as above.
10. Re-attach the front end caps.
11. Operate the awning in/out several times and adjust the fabric squarely into position.
