High Temperature Resistant Fabrics
Idaho Canvas Products offers many specialty fabrics designed to protect personnel and property from extremes in heat, welding sparks, and molten metal splash.
Altex 400 Para Aramid Blend Self-extinguishing, non-melting and heat-resistant to 600ºF. For incursions to 1500ºF. Offers superior abrasion resistance and mildew resistance. Possesses high tear strength, excellent dimensional stability and good processability. Color is yellow. Ideal for protective clothing and curtains. Other weights and thicknesses available upon request.
Aluminized Coated Fiberglass (1 side) Used in situations where reflectivity is important, these welding blankets & curtains have excellent thermal characteristics. These blankets have a 4 MIL aluminized foil laminated with a fire-retardant thermoplastic adhesive to our 100% 18 oz. fiberglass. Ideal for heat reflectivity in curtains blankets and shields.
CH Grade Silica Fabrics CH Grade Silica is the preferred choice in the protection of equipment and personnel in high temperature applications. These are two satin weave silica fabrics from which to choose that can withstand molten metal temperatures and offer protection at continuous temperatures up to 1800ºF (1000ºC). All fabrics can be used or fabricated as welding drop cloths, stress relief blankets, protective screens/covers, furnace curtains, insulation mats and cable tray wraps. It depends upon the weight/thickness/strength factors as to the fabric that is the best cost effective choice.
High Temperature "Plus" Fabrics Typical applications include high temperature expansion joints, curtains, blankets, and drop cloths for medium to heavy industrial applications, flue ducts, turbine insulations, and gasketing. Typical industries include thermal and nuclear power plants, refineries and petro-chemical industries, filtration, steel, aluminum, copper, and other basic metal industries, turbine insulation, heat treating, stress relieving, automotive and industrial maintenance.
Silicone Coated CH Grade Silica Fabrics ABRASION RESISTANT: Threads won't unravel. Designed for high abrasion areas such as furnace curtains and high traffic areas: catwalks, grating walkways. Can be walked on. Service temperature for silicone is 500ºF.
